Afaque Riaz Ahmed is the founder and President of The Karachi Institute of Technology and Entrepreneurship (KITE). Before coming to Pakistan to explore new entrepreneurial opportunities and reunite with family, Afaque occupied several senior engineering and sales roles in the United States and Canada. In September 2003, he founded Fonebooth Networks, Inc, a telecommunications company based in Silicon Valley. The philosophy and business model for this venture eventually became the basis for a similar business, the Breezecom Group of Companies, with companies based in Malaysia, Pakistan and the UAE which he founded in 2007.
In 2011, Afaque’s passion for science and education drove him to establish the Robotics Labs, an interactive platform designed to inculcate a love for science and computer programming in young Pakistanis. This became the founding philosophy of Afaque’s first higher education venture, KITE in 2012/2013. In his spare time, Afaque listens to old ghazals and qawwalis, watches movies and organizes parties for friends and family. Afaque holds an MBA (Finance) from McGill University, Montreal, Canada and a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, U.S.A. He has also completed various professional development courses and executive programs at Singularity University, Stanford University and at The University of California-San Diego.
Mr. Irfan Dawood is a the Acting Provost and Registrar at KITE, and is responsible for all academic operations. He graduated with a Bachelors and Masters in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 1997. He has worked in the offshore oil and gas industry in Houston in varying capacities from engineering to senior project manager, and has traveled extensively around the world providing consulting services to the oil producers. He is also a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas and a certified Project Management Professional. He has returned to Pakistan to pursue his dream of providing high quality education at an affordable price for the masses.
Mr. Gohar Anwar is a Resident Auditor at KITE, and is responsible for the Administration, Admissions and Marketing departments. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Economics from LUMS – Lahore University of Management Sciences.asses.
